HAAC Honour Roll 2005

HALTON DEVELOPMENT AWARDS HONOURS EXCELLENCE IN THE SKILLED TRADES

Halton, ON - On Tuesday, May 16th, 2006 from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. students, parents, educators and businesses/industry representatives will have the opportunity to attend the Halton Apprenticeship Advisory Council - Honour Roll 2005 event. The breakfast meeting will be held at The Burlington Convention Center, located 1120 Burloak Drive in Burlington. Registration is $30.00/person or $240/table of 8 which includes a breakfast buffet and an opportunity to recognize excellence in skilled trades training in the Halton Region.

The Halton Apprenticeship Advisory Council (HAAC), a committee of the Halton Industry Education Council - Career Center (HIEC), is a grassroots effort to coordinate business, education, labour, community and government to create an environment in which the skilled trades can excel. The "Honour Roll" event recognizes Halton companies for their demonstrated leadership in advancing skilled trades' excellence. Now in its sixth year, the event was the first event of its kind in Ontario.

The HAAC Honour Roll 2005 will incorporate two dynamic presentations. First Women Addressing the Skilled Trades Shortage by Corin "Pinky" Ames, Placement Student/Apprentice Holmes on Homes and Jill Rydall, Coordinator-Construction, The Centre for Skills Development and Training. Second, a Ministry of Education Update by Education Officer, Aldo Cianfrini.
